Ingredients

  • Fresh Red Cabbage - grated (amount depends on how many you want to serve - 1 head serves about 5.
  • 1 sweet apple per head of cabbage
  • red wine vinegar to taste
  • brown sugar to taste
  • olive oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • chicken broth

Directions

Saute onion in 2 tblspoons Olive oil until just transparent. vinegar and brown sugar and 1/2 cup chicken broth ... chop apple into small pieces, add to broth..bring to boil and add cabbage...salt and pepper to taste, cover and allow to simmer just until cabbage is tender.

for variation add crisp bacon to onions before adding the vinegar and brown sugar.
