Directions

From the author:
"This was my mother's recipe. I grew up in the North of England, where this was a dessert dish after dinner. In the New England tradition, Nereledge served apple pie after breakfast since the 1920s. I have found that the guests enjoy this little finale to breakfast."

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Place apple slices in 8x8 baking dish. Put flour into food processor, cut butter stick into 8 pices and add to flour. Run food processor for 20 seconds. Mixture will be like breadcrumbs. Add sugar and mix for 5 seconds. Sprinkle mixture on top of apples. Bake for 40-45 minutes. Spoon into individual dishes and top with scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Makes 8 servings.

Can also use other fruits in season, e.g. fresh peaches or blueberries
