Ingredients

  • 4 large flanken bones
  • 2 spanish onions, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, diced
  • 4 tbls olive oil
  • 3 large sweet potatoes, pealed and quartered
  • 2 large white california potatoes, pealed and quartered
  • 12 dried prunes, pitted and diced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 pound margarine
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • salt, pepper, onion powder to taste

Directions

Heat oven to 350'. Season flanken with salt and pepper and saute in olive oil until browned. Remove flanken and saute onions and garlic until soft. Put all the ingredients in a baking dish, cover and bake for 1 hour. Uncover dish, mix ingredients, cook uncovered for another 30 minutes or until done. Remove flanken, shred meat from bones and return to tsimmis.
