Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted all purpose flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 5 tbsp. vegetable shortening

Directions

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening well. Add milk and mix. Turn out onto a floured board and knead for 1/2 minute. Pat to desired thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter. Bake on a cookie sheet or other shallow pan at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
