Ingredients

  • 2 cups Bread Cubes (Crusts Removed, if preferred) ... Use white, wheat, pumpernickel, or a mixture, cut into 1"" squares
  • 1/4 cup melted butter or margarine or olive oil
  • Garlic Powder
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Black Pepper

Directions

Melt butter or margarine in large skillet. Turn off heat. Add bread cubes and toss well to distribute butter or oil evenly. Add seasonings and toss again.

Place on cookie sheet and bake in oven at 325 degrees until lightly browned. Cool before adding to salad so as to not wilt lettuce.

Also...cut bread into 3-inch rounds and prepare in the same way. Place heated onion soup into individual crocks, top with round crouton, then shredded cheese (mozzarella and provolone is good). Place under broiler set to 350 degrees until cheese bubbles.
