Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 8 cups sugar
- 2 T salt
- 1/4 c. plus 4 t. ground cinnamon
- 4 t. ground nutmet
- 4 t. ground cloves
- 4 lbs. shelled nuts
Directions
In a very large saucepan, cook water, sugar, salt and spices over a medium heat until mixture reaches soft-ball stage (235-240 degrees F; after being dropped in cold water, the syrup can be shaped into a ball, but flattens when removed from water). Remove from hear and stir in nuts, using long, slow, sweeping motions, until all are covered. Cover a surface with waxed paper, dump the nuts onto the paper and separate the clumps by pulling them apart. Let cool before dividing them. Use in serving bowls or as gifts!
