My mom used to make this with leftover leg of lamb and gravy, which I thought was wonderful, but as we don't have leg of lamb too often I improvised this and my family likes it better.
Ingredients
- gound lamb
- garlic
- Worcestershire sauce
- brown gravy
- mashed potatoes
Directions
Brown ground lamb & garlic and drain. Make a gravy using beef stock and flour, add to meat along with Worcestershire to taste. When thickened pour it into a casserole dish and top with prepared mashed potatoes. Bake at 350 till heated through and bubbling.
Sorry not to be more specific with amounts. For my family of 4 I usually do 2 lbs of meat (it cooks down & we have leftovers). Sometimes I use ground turkey too, but it should be lamb(hence th name Shepherd's pie). I usually mash about 4 or 5 med. potatoes.
