I think Marmite is the English equivalent of Vegemite. I haven't tried these as yet but they do sound good. This recipe comes from my English Marmite cookbook. Enjoy

Ingredients

  • l lb Self raising Flour
  • 3 oz margarine
  • 2 teasp Marmite yeast extract
  • l teasp mustard powder
  • pinch salt
  • 4 oz cheddar cheese, grated
  • about 1/2 pint milk

Directions

Preheat oven 425
Rub the margarine into the flour til the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the Marmite, mustard, salt and cheese, and mix to a soft manageable dough with the milk.
Turn out onto a floured surface and knead lightly. Divid mixture in half and shape into two rounds about 1" thick. Place on lightly greased baking sheet, and using sharp knife score each round into eight portions.
Bake in oven for 25/30 minutes till browned and firm. Cool on wire rack, then serve buttered with Marmite, cheese, peanut butter or other savoury spreads.
