  • fava beans


Shell the fava beans and discard the pods. Then remove the thn peel that coats each bean by slitting the edge with a knife and "popping" the bean out.(1 lb. beans = about 1 C of beans). You can either boil the beans in lightly salted water(good for mashing) or you can steam the beans covered until tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 10 minutes
