Here is another treat which is somewhat easier. You need to purchase the pie makers at a local discount store. They are approximately $10.00 each. Try to find the ones with wire handles as opposed to the wood ones, they stay cool as they cook. They are found in the camping section of K-Mart, Walmart or Meijers. They come in round or square. Now all you need is a loaf of bread some butter and a filling. For desserts, you could use pie filling. For Breakfast, you could use eggs and cheese. You could make pizza's for lunch, The bread is the crust or shell. Butter the outsides, put in your filling and cook in the fire. Kids love to make their own meal.

Ingredients

  • 10-12 oranges
  • 1 yellow cake mix, and needed ingredients to prepare

Directions

Mix up your cake mix as directed. Slice approximately 1/2" off the tops of the oranges. dig out the fruit of the orange, leaving a shell. fill 2/3 full with cake mix. Put tops back on. You can set them in a cupcake tin, while preparing so they do not tip over. Wrap them in foil, pulling the 4 corners of the foil to the top and bunching it together, so you know where the tops are. Set them in the fire and cook for 20-30 minutes, check frequently so they do not burn.

You will have a wonderful change for campfire treats. Orange cakes.
