Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. shredded cabbage
  • 1 T salt
  • 2 C sugar
  • 1 C vinegar
  • 1/2 C water
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 7 stalks celery, cut fine
  • 1 tsp mustard seed or dry mustard
  • 1 tsp celery seed

Directions

Place chopped cabbage in shallow pan, sprinkle with salt and let stand for 2 hours.

Boil vinegar, sugar and water together for 1 minute. Let stand until cool. Squeeze all the juice from the cabbage. Cut green pepper and celery fine and add muwtard seed and celery seed. Pour liquid over all. Let stand overnight in refrigerator before using.
