Miscellaneous Red Wine Wine Tasting Notes
1998 Mosby Teroldego Score: 94.0 "What a fascinating grape. Ive had a few in Italy, some of which were quite good, but this is the first Ive ever had from California. Teroldego has a completely different flavor profile from the Bordeaux varieties were so familiar with-logan berry jam provides the core, supported by bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee flavors and a hint of hickory smoke. Soft on the palate, it adds a light spicy note in the finish. Runs circles around most Cabernets. A perfect barbecue wine."

1996 Boeger El Dorado Meritage Red Wine Score: 88.0 "A powerful wine, well-balanced wine, the Boeger Meritage is a blend of Bordeaux grape varieties that combine to offer deep blackberry fruit, bittersweet dark chocolate and smoke character. A high level of fruit and persistent intensity carries the finish. "

Marcus James Mendoza Argentina Malbec: Special Reserve Score: 88.0 "Brilliant ruby red, aromatic nose of earth, spice and wild berry, smooth as silk on the palatae, with an earthy, fruity finish. A great wine for drinking now. Pair with red meat dishes, pasta or seafood with tomato based sauces."
1996 Boeger El Dorado Charbono Score: 85.0 "Blackberry-raspberry, light licorice, moderate tannin, chewy finish. "
1997 Callaway Vineyard & Winery Estate Bottled Temecula Dolcetto Score: 87.0 "You cant coax much more out of this grape than this fine wine.Callaways Dolcetto is almost like a fresher version of mulled wine: Sweet black plum aroma with the addition of cinnamon on the palate, tart acidity and an intensely fruity finish. "

1997 Mirassou "Edmund Mirassou Dedication Bottling, " Monterey County Petite Sirah Harvest Reserve Score: 94.0 "An exceptional wine. Full-bodied with excellent balance and a melange of flavors - ripe green plums, subtle sweet spices, hints of toast and mint chocolate - moderate tannin and great length. Luscious now, it will age with style over the next decade. Perfect with any hearty dish such as lamb, beef, pasta marinara, or full-flavored cheeses."
1997 Santa Julia Mendoza [Argentina] Malbec Score: 83.0 "Raspberry and red licorice flavors, with light tannin, firm structure. "
1998 Schloss Castell Franken [Germany] Muller-Thurgau Qualitatswein Trocken Score: 91.0 "Quite simply the best Muller-Thurgau of my experience. Delicate, fragrant nose of white melon and freshly mown green grass, with the added attraction of mineral notes on the palate, dry, light and lively. Superb balance. Pair with delicate fish like sole, or with mild cheese."
1998 Graf. Neipperg Schwaigern Wurttemberg [Germany] Lemberger trocken Score: 79.0 "Earthy, meaty, smokey notes predominate, while light berry fruit lurks in the background. Thin body, no tannin to speak of. This is a good red wine to serve chilled with hamburger."
