Pinot Grigio Wine Tasting Notes
1998 Archery Summit Vireton Oregon "Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio 74%, 14% Chard, 12% Pinot Blanc. " Score: 90.0 "Super fruity peach with threshold residual sugar, vanilla, a hint of tarragon, medium body, smooth oily texure, and lingering fruity finish. Extremely attractive as an aperitif, it would pair especially well with ceviche, vichysoise, and Coquilles St. Jacques."

1998 Callaway Vineyard & Winery Estate Bottled Temecula Pinot Gris Score: 90.0 "If youre careful to refrain from overly chilling this wine, it will give you more dimension than you ever expected from a Pinot Gris outside of Alsace. As youd expect from a russet colored grape, this 'white' wine has a slight hint of pink color. Its mouthcoating, silky-smooth, with ripe peach overtones and an edge of pink grapefruit through the tart minerally finish. A great match for risotto, salmon and shelfish."

1998 Mosby Santa Barbara county Pinot Grigio Score: 87.0 "This wine is less Italian than Alsatian in character. I can say that with some authority, having tasted it alongside an Alsatian Pinot Gris. Its dry, with baked peach, red apple and rosemary notes, as well as an earthy background. Robust and flavorful on the mid-palate, it has a short grassy finish. Pair with poultry or pork."

Campanile Friuli Italy Pinot Grigio Score: 91.0 "Bursting with tart fruit flavors of white peach, quince and melon rind, it gains complexity through intense gravelly overtones. Quintessential shellfish wine, it would be perfect accompaniment to oysters or muscles."
|
1998 Danzante "Marquesi de Frescobaldi, Robert Mondavi" Pinot Grigio delle Venezie Score: 89.0 "Bright and peachy, clean and silky, unsually long. A good palate cleanser and a fine foil for grilled portabello mushrooms and shellfish."
