Napa Valley Wine Tasting Notes
1997 Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Chardonnay "Reserve, unfiltered" Score: 93.0 "This is one beautifully balanced wine, and more complex than words can easily convey. Dry pear with subtle oak shadings, a hint of caramel, medium-bodied, light spicy, nutty finish. Very elegant."
1998 Mill Creek Napa Valley Chardonnay Score: 82.0 "A decent wine, though disjointed and angular. The oak is a bit coarse."
1997 Robert Mondavi unfiltered To-Kalon Vineyard Napa Valley Fume Blanc: The '97 Mondavi Reserve Fume Blanc is the embodiment of balance and subtlety. Reserve Score: 93.0 "Jasmine, lavendar and rosemary aromas lead to a silky palate that embraces a complex mineral character that expands through the finish. So well-balanced you cant tell where the fruit leaves off and the oak begins, and it has the amazing ability to be both subtle and intense at the same time. A marvelous creation that pairs extremely well with ceviche and shellfish. Great now, it will outlast a good many reds in your cellar."

1996 Groth Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Score: 89.0 "One sniff and you know this is 'serious' wine. Deep, concentrated blackberries, olives and some earthy notes, soft integrated tannin, and a dark fruit and olive finish. Fairly intense, it remains at the same level from nose through finish. It would pair well with red meats now, but Id prefer to hold it for three years or more before reevalutaion."
