Title: ol ghat (eggplant puree of burma)
Type: Appetizers
Description: OL GAHT (EGGPLANT PUREE OF BURMA)Description: Mashed eggplant slow simmered with onion, tomato and garlic. Served with cucumber slices, tomato and chipati (thin wheat bread).....This was a favorite of mine at Spice Island Tea House in Pittsburgh. I've moved and want desperately to recreate it. It was spicy--someone suggested it might have had a red curry and/or shrimp paste. But, I have no clue. Any ideas would be very welcome.
