Ingredients

  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 T. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 t. baking powder
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. honey
  • 2 T. cooking oil
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 c. hot water

Directions

Measure the flour, the 2 T. cocoa powder, the baking powder, and salt into a 9x9x2-inch baking pan. Stir with fork to mix well. Add milk and honey, cooking oil, and vanilla. Stir with fork until smooth. Spread evenly in pan. Use fingers to mix brown sugar and 1/4 c. cocoa in small bowl. Sprinkle over batter. Pour the hot water over sugar and cocoa. Do not stir. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 40 minutes. Mixture will form a cake and sauce in the pan. Let stand 15 minutes to cool slightly. May be served with ice cream.
(This doesn't call for nuts, but you could probably put some in.)
