Beef Stroganoff Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds beef tenderloin or sirloin steak
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 can (6 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 2 cans (10.5 oz. each) condensed beef broth
  • 1/3 cup minced onion
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 cups sour cream (non-fat may be used)
  • 10 ounced uncooked medium noodles
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine

Directions:
Cut meat across grain into 3/4-inch slices, then into strips 3 x 1/4-inch. Melt 1/4 cup butter in large skillet. Cook and stir mushrooms and garlic in butter about 5 minutes; remove mushrooms.
In same skillet brown meat.

Reserving 2/3 cup of the broth, stir in the remaining broth, the onion and catsup. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Blend reserved broth with the flour and stir into meat. Add mushrooms, heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in sour cream and heat through.

Cook noodles as directed. Toss with 3 tablespoons of butter. Pour sauce over noodles and serve.



This is the best stroganoff my husband has eaten. He raves about it and wrote "excellent" across the top of the recipe! And that's an accomplishment ... he hardly steps foot in the kitchen!
