Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 tablespoon butter, divided
  • 2 cups white bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Dash pepper
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 thick pork steaks

Directions

Saute onion in 1 tablespoon butter in skillet. Add bread crumbs, parsley and seasoning; toss to combine well. Add remaining tablespoon butter, water and enough of the egg to moisten. Slit steaks lengthwise, not quite through; open out butterfly-style. Place one steak on a flat surface; spread stuffing over top. Cover with remaining steak. Secure with string. Drizzle remaining tablespoon of melted butter over top. Place in baking dish; pour about 1 cup water around steak. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes; turn steak over. Lower heat to 325 degrees. Bake for 40 minutes longer, basting occasionally. If meat seems to be browning too quickly, cover lightly with foil.
