This is a very moist cake and very tasty. Repeat, do not use metal utensils when stirring the starter.

Ingredients

  • Starter:
  • 1 C milk
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 C flour
  • To all to starter:
  • 2/3 C oil
  • 4 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp baking
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 C flour
  • 2 C sugar
  • 1 small package of vanilla instant pudding
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 C raisins
  • 1 C walnuts or pecans

Directions

Mix starter ingredients in a crock or pottery container. Mix with a wooden spoon, not metal. Cover with a plastic wrap. Stir every day for 10 days being sure to cover tightly after each daily stir.

On th 10th day add ingredients to starter mixing well. Grease two loaf pans and distribute batter evenly between pans. Bake in 325 oven for 1 hour.


Serve with brown sugar/or maple syrup as topping.
