Ingredients

  • 3/4 c soft margarine
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 c flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c rolled oats
  • Filling:
  • 3 c cut-up dates
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1 1/2 c water

Directions

Mix margarine and sugar. Sift together flour, soda, salt and rolled oats. Pat 2/3 of mixture into 9x13-in. greased pan.

Cook filling until blended well and dates are soft. Spread filling on dough. Sprinkle with reamining dough. Bake 25-30 minutes at 400 degrees F.
