Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter or oleo
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Filling:
  • 1 cup crumbs(cake, cookies or graham crackers)
  • 5 large apples, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup melted oleo or butter

Directions

Mix water, egg and melted butter; add salt. On a floured board work the liquid mixture into the flour, kneading until the dough is very elastic and no longer sticks to the board. Cover with a warm bowl and let stand 1 hour.

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Spread a cloth over a very large table and sprinkle it lightly with flour. Roll dough evenly into a large square and place in the center of the cloth. Begin pulling and stretching the dough away from the center gently. To prevent tearing until it is evenly thin as paper, snip off the thick edges. Brush dough with the melted butter or oleo. Then sprinkle the crumbs over three quarters of the surface.

Spread apples, raisins, sugar and cinnamon over it, lifting and tilting the cloth. Start rolling the dough from the filled side(like a huge jelly roll) toward and over the empty side.

Place carefully on greased baking sheet; brush top with butter or oleo. Bake at 360 degrees F. for 35 minutes. Baste with melted butter or oleo when done.
