Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter in a large bowl until creamy. (May use electric mixer.) Add sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Add flour gradually; beat after each addition until well blended. Pat into ungreased jelly roll pan. Brush with egg; sprinkle with nuts. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Watch carefully, as cookies burn easily. Cool slightly until set; cut with sharp knife into strips, squares or diamonds. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
