I used to make this for every birthday cake until I found Fluffy White Frosting which did not get hard on the outside. But this frosting does get crackly on the outside.

Ingredients

  • Large Cake
  • Combine in top of double boiler...
  • 2 egg whites (1/3 c.)
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 t. cream of tartar
  • 1/3 c. water
  • Small cake:
  • 2 egg whites (1/4 c.)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/8 t. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 t. vanilla

Directions

Place over boinling water and beat with rotary beater until mixture holds its shape.
Fold in--1 1/2 t. vanilla.
Beat until cool, then spread
