This is a terrific recipe and reminds me of the cookies they served at a local bakery while I was growing up. This is the best gingerbread cookie recipe I have ever had! Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 cup of butter or margarine 5 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 egg 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup molasses (NOT BLACKSTRAP!!!) 1 Tbs. Ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 Tbs. white or apple cider vinegar 1 tsp. cloves
Directions
Cream butter with sugar and stir in egg and molasses, and vinegar and beat well. Sift all dry ingredients. Combine dry ingredients with molasses mixture and mix until well blended.. Chill for 3 hours or overnight. Roll out on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes. Bake at 375 for 6-8 minutes.
