To me, this cookie ends up tasting like a cross between a sugar cookie and a shortbread cookie. They can also be baked ahead and frozed. Just frost when they are totally defrosted.


  • 1 C. margarine
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 T. vanilla
  • 3 1/2 C. flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 C. milk


Mix margarine, sugar, and egg. Add vanilla. Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and milk. Chill dough. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter. Sprinkle with sugar and bake and 350 for 10 -12 minutes
