Eggnog French Toast Almondine Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup light cream
  • 1 tablespoon brandy
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 8 slices French bread, 3/4 inch thick
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • Strawberry Sauce
  • Strawberry Sauce:
  • 1 12-ounce pkg. sweetened, frozen strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water

Directions:
In a bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar. Stir in cream, brandy, vanilla, and nutmeg. Place the bread slices in a shallow baking dish and cover with the egg mixture. Turn bread to coat sll sides. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove the bread slices from the dish and coat the flat sides with the almonds. In a skillet, melt the butter and cook the toast over medium heat until golden brown on both sides. Serve with strawberry sauce.

For strawberry sauce; in medium saucepan, combine ingredients. Simmer for five minutes, crushing the berries with a spoon. Remove from heat and cool slightly before serving
