Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup snipped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh sage
  • or 1 tbsp. dried sage
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme, crumbled
  • 1/2 tsp. dried marjoram, crumbled
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 6 cups dry bread cubes
  • 6 cups crumbled corn bread
  • 1 (14 1/2 oz.) can fat free chicken broth

Directions:
In large skillet, melt margarine; add onion, celery, parsley, sage, salt, pepper, thyme, marjoram and nutmeg. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onion and celery are tender. Combine bread cubes and corn bread with onion mixture. Stir in broth. Shape into 12 balls, using l/2 cup packed mixture per ball. Place in buttered 9x13" baking pan. Refrigerate, covered, several hrs. or overnight.

To Bake: Bake, covered, in a preheated 325 degrees oven 30 min. Uncover; bake 15-20 min. Ionger. Remove from pan with wide spatula.

Serves 12.
