ITALIAN LOVE KNOTS Recipe

  Italian Cookie

    




Ingredients:
Dough
6 eggs well beaten
1 C sugar
1 C vegetable oil
1 Orange--zest and juice
1/4 tsp Anise oil
6 tsp baking powder (level)
6 C flour (you may need to add flour if dough is too soft)

Frosting
1 egg white
1/2 box powdered sugar
zest and juice of 1/2 lemon

Directions:
Dough:
Mix all ingredients and knead dough Tear pieces of mixed dough and roll into 1/2 inch diameter ropes Slice ropes into 4 - 5 inch pieces and tie into knot You will be able to determine diameter and length after you tie a few knots. Practice, practice, practice. Place knot side up on greased cookie sheet Bake at 325 for 15 minutes or until golden. Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes Cool completely (overnight) before frosting

Frosting:
Beat together ingredients and dip top of each cookie knot into frosting. Set on wax paper until frosting hardens
