Note: Add a little more flour to mixture than meal.


  • corn meal (self rising)
  • flour (self rising)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • crisco


Filet bass and wash well in cold water. Salt and pepper to taste and roll fish in mixture of meal and flour mixed together, coating well. Put fish in skillet of hot crisco and fry till golden brown. I think a iron skillet works best if well seasoned. Crappie and blue gill is also very good fixed this way.
