Tear buns into pieces. Beat eggs, sugar, milk, and vanilla. Put layer of bread, in a 9x13 baking dish. Sprinkle nutmeg. Put rest of bread, pour milk mixture over and top with nutmeg. Let set five minutes before putting in the oven. Bake about 50 minutes at 350....or until brown and puffed good in the middle. Sauce: 1 cup water 1/4 cup sugar 1-1/2 Tablespoons cornstarch 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 Tablespoons butter Mix cornstarch and water. Add butter and cook until thick. Add vanilla. Pour over pudding just when it comes from the oven.
This is good for breakfast too!
