Ingredients:

  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 to 5 cloves garlic, crushed (depending on your taste)
  • juice of 2 stalks of celery (DO NOT OMIT THIS)
  • piece of fresh ginger (can be omitted)
  • 1/4 c. vegetable or peanut oil

Directions:
Mix all but oil together. Bring to boil and boil for one (1) minute. Remove from heat. Add oil if you desire, or you may leave it out, depending on the type of meat you are marinating. Cool completely. Pour over chicken, thinly sliced flank steak, fish, etc. and marinate for several hours or overnight. You may wish to keep some of the liquid separate from the meat. You can add 1 TBS. cornstarch with 1 TBS. water to the cooled liquid, bring to boil stirring constantly til thickened slightly and use as a dip, or glaze, etcetera.
