Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 T butter
- 1 T light corn syrup
- 1/4 t salt
- 2 t vanilla
- 1 cup walnuts(chopped)
- 1/3 cup candied cherries(chopped)
Directions
Combine sugar, sour cream, milk, butter, corn syrup and salt in a heavy 2 quart saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture reaches a boil. Cook over medium heat 9-10 minutes or until soft ball stage. Remove from heat and set aside to cool until lukewarm(approximately 1 hour). After candy cools, add vanilla and beat until mixture begins to lose its gloss and hold shape. (Very little beating is required.) Quickly stir in walnuts and cherries. Turn candy into a 13x9x2-inch greased pan. Let set several hours before cutting into squares. Makes 1-1/2 lbs
