Ingredients

  • 4 C flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/4 C milk
  • 3 T sugar
  • 2 T shortening
  • Powdered sugar
  • Honey

Directions

Mix first 6 ingredients. Knead and roll out thin. Cut into triangles (about half a 5"" x 5"" square). Fry in 350* - 400* oil or shortening until they have puffed up and are golden brown. Remove from oil, drain slightly, and sprinkle with powdered sugar and/or honey. I hope this is what you wanted. Sopapillas are a dessert, way lighter and puffier than tortillas or fry bread. The best ones I ever had were at a little hole-in-the-wall on S. San Francisco St. in Flagstaff, AZ
