Ingredients

  • 1/2 c Butter Or Margarine;Softened
  • 1/2 c Brown Sugar; Packed
  • 1/2 c Sugar; Granulated
  • 1 Egg; Large
  • 1 ts Vanilla
  • 1 1/4 c Flour; Unbleached
  • 1/2 ts Baking Powder
  • 1/2 ts Baking Soda
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • 2 c Rice Cereal; Crisp
  • 1 1/2 c Coconut; Flaked
  • 1 c Dates; Pitted And Chopped

Directions

Cream sugars and butter. add egg, and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir into creamed mixture. Stir in crisp rice cereal (Rice Krispies for example), coconut, and dates. Form into 3/4-inch balls; place 2 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F. until lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Cool slightly before removing to a rack to cool completely.


Makes 5 dozen.
