Old Fashioned Vinegar Cobbler Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. butter or oleo
  • 1 c. sugar
  • VINEGAR MIXTURE:
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. white vinegar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Crust:
Combine flour, salt and cut in shortening until mealy. Add cold water. Mix well. Roll dough on floured board to 1/8" thickness. Spread with melted oleo and sugar. Roll dough up like jelly roll. Cut into 1" thickness as for cinnamon rolls. Put in 13"x9"x2" pan. Set aside.
Vinegar Mixture:
Put into saucepan and bring to boil. Pour over rolls and bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes or until golden brown and liquid is partially absorbed. Serves 8.
