Prepared horseradish has a powerful, piquant taste and a penetrating smell. A fine accompaniment to boiled beef and chicken. The roots are hard to come by. They make an appearance at Passover time, when Horseradish has a place on the Seder tray, symbolizing the bitter lives of the Jews in captivity in Egypt.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Horseradish root, washed, thick peel scraped off; and grated
  • white vinegar to cover
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Directions

Mix well, bottle and seal.

Strong!! A little goes a long way.
