Ingredients:

  • 1 pint milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Directions:
Cook 1/2 cup sugar in heavy saucepan over low heat until melted and golden brown. Pour immediately into custard cups; cool. In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups milk, 4 eggs, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour into custard cups. Place the cups in a baking pan and fill the pan with 1"" of hot water. Bake in 350 degree F. oven for 50 minutes, or until the custard is soft set in the center. chill. To serve, run a knife around the edge of the custard cups and unmold onto serving plates
