Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla flavoring (or almond)
  • 2 1/2 cups flour

Directions

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Mix butter, sugar, egg yolks, and flavoring thoroughly. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Work in flour a little at a time. Using 1/4 dough at a time, force dough through cooky press on ungreased baking sheet in desired shapes. Bake 7 to 10 minutes or until set but not brown (watch closely). Makes about 6 dozen cookies.(I think it actually makes less)

To make these in the ""Holiday Spritz"" fashion, omit flavoring and add 1 tsp of rum flavoring. Tint dough delicate pastel shades with food coloring--red or green work well.

Can also make these as ""Chocolate Spritz"" by blending in 2 squares unsweetened chocolate (2 oz.) melted, into the shortening mixture.
