Poppy Seed Babovka Recipe | |

Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening, butter and oleo, mixed1 3/4 cup sugar 4 whole eggs 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 1/2 cups flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 lb. poppy seed(or one 12 oz. can Solo) 1/2 cup milk 1 cup mashed potatoes 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together. Cream shortening with sugar; add eggs, one at a time, and beat well after each addition. Add milk alternately with flour mixture; beat well, then add vanilla, potatoes, poppy seed and nuts. Beat well after each addition. Grease and flour a babovka form, angel food or Bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.This keeps well and tastes even better the second day. Can be baked in loaf pans, too.
