Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup sugar3/4 cup vegetable shortening 1 egg 1/4 cup molasses 2 cups flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. powdered ginger 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/4 tsp. salt Granulated sugar for rolling
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients to combine. In a large bowl, beat shortening and sugar until blended, stir in molasses and egg. Add the flour mixture in two parts, blending well. Shape the dough into a ball, cover and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Divide and shape the dough into 1-1/2inch balls, roll thoroughly in sugar, place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 15 minutes.Yields 50-60 two inch cookies.
