Ingredients:
Pastry for 1 crust 9 inch pieLower part: 1/2 c. sugar 1/3 c. cocoa 1/3 c. hot water 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Upper part: 2/3 c. sugar 1/3 c. shortening 1 egg, well beaten 2/3 c. milk 1 tsp baking powder 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Line pie pan with pastry. Mix sugar with cocoa, hot water and vanilla. Pour into pie pan. Mix sugar with shortening. Beat in egg and milk. Stir in baking powder and flour. Stir in vanilla. Beat until smooth. Pour mixture over cocoa mixture. Bake in preheated 350 oven for 40 minutes, or until top springs back when lightly touched.6 to 8 servings.
