Ingredients:
Dry Mix:1-1/2 tablespoons salt 2 teaspoons monosodium glutamate(MSG) 2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon black pepper 1/2 teaspoon onion powder For Each 2 Cups Dressing: 1 cup mayonnaise 1 cup buttermilk 3-1/4 teaspoons Dry Mix
Directions:
For Dry Mix:In a container with a tight-fitting lid, combine salt, MSG, parsley, garlic powder, pepper and onion powder. Mix well. Store in airtight container.(Will keep for months). To prepare 2 cups salad dressing; In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup mayonnaise, 1 cup buttermilk and 3-1/4 teaspoons dry mix. Stir to combine well. Refrigerate, covered, for 24 hours to let flavors blend. Stir well just before serving. Variations: Blue cheese: Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese to 2 cups basic dressing. Creamy Italian: Add a dash of cayenne pepper and 1 teaspoon crushed, dried Italian seasoning to 2 cups basic dressing. Herb: Add 1 tablespoon chopped chives and 1/2 teaspoon dried, crushed tarragon leaves to 2 cups basic dressing. |
