Sour Cream Sugar Cookies Recipe


1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup commercial sour cream

Combine shortening, 1 cup sugar, egg, and vanilla; cream until light and fluffy. Combine flour, soda, and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in sour cream, mixing well. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Flatten with a fork and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350 deg. for 10-12 minutes.

Yield: About 5 1/2 dozen
