Mrs. Evans Apple Cake Recipe

  Jewish Cakes

Ingredients:
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup oil
4 egg
1/2 cup orange juice or milk
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 large apple, sliced
1/2 cup sugar
cinnamon -- enough cinnamon to make a dark mixture

Directions:
1 Mix dry ingredients.
2 Make a hole in the center and add eggs,and juice,and oil and vanilla.
3 Put half of batter in 10" greased and sugared tube pan.
4 Place half the apple slices around the pan.
5 Sprinkly heavily with sugar and cinnamon, mixed.
6 Place rest of batter, then rest of apples in pan.
7 Sprinkle heavily again with sugar.
8 Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours.
