Apple Fritters Recipe

  American Dessert

Ingredients:
1/2 cup warm water
2 pkgs. yeast
3 egg yolks
3 Tbsp. butter (melted)
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 to 1 cup milk
shortening for frying
1 can apple filling (cut into small pieces)

GLAZE:
1 cup powder sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. cold water

Directions:
In medium bowl mix yeast and water together. Add the butter and eggs. Mix well. Add the flour, sugar and salt. Mix well. Add the milk a little at a time until mixture resembles a thick batter. Cover and allow the dough to rest for 1-1/2 hours. Fold in the apple filling gentle. Drop by tablespoons in to hot shortening. Fry until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Lightly coat with glaze.

GLAZE: Mix ingedients together well. Add a little more water if needed to thin glaze. Brush onto apple fritters.
