CHOCOLATE CHIP POUNDCAKE Recipe

  American Cakes

Ingredients:
1 c. softened margarine
1 Tbsp. shortening
2 c. sugar
6 eggs, separated
3 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
8 oz. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Set aside a handful chocolate chips. Cream margarine,
shortening and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.
Add egg yolks and beat 5 minutes on medium speed of electric
mixer. Combine, flour, salt and soda and add to cream mixture alternately with sour cream. Stir in vanilla and chocolate chips. Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add remaining 1/2 cup sugar and beat until stiff. Fold into batter. Bake in a greased and floured tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Let cool and then glaze with 1 cup sifted powdered sugar and 1-1/2 teaspoons milk. Top with chocolate chips.
