Ingredients:
4 cups all purpose flour 1 Tbsp. baking powder 1 tsp salt 1-1/2 cup warm water 1 cup shortening for frying
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together (except the shortening) and knead until dough is soft and elastic, and not sticky. If necessary, add a little more water. Shape dough into 1/2" balls. Melt 1 cup shortening in a heavy frying pan. Carefully put the rounds into the hot fat one at a time. Brown both sides. Drain on paper towels and serve hot. May be served plain, dusted with confectioners' sugar or cinnamon sugar, or with honey. |
