Shoofly Pie Recipe

  Pies

Ingredients:
Filling:
l l/2 cups boiling water
l teasp baking soda
1 cup molasses
Crumbs:
4 cups sifted flour
2 cups brown sugar
l cup shortening

l/4 teas salt

Directions:
Use any pastry recipe you prefer and roll our 2 crusts, placing one in each of 2 pie tins. Pour boiling water over soda in a bowl and stir in molasses. Pour filling into pie shells, half filling. Mix ingredients for crumbs and sprinkle thickly on top of each pie.
Bake in a 350 oven for 30-40 minutes till nicely browned.
Makes 2 8" pies.
