French Apple Tart Recipe

  French Dessert

Ingredients:
crust
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1-1/2 ounces butter
1 egg
filling
4-1/2 ounces butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 cup almond meal, (fine ground almonds)
3/4 cup cake flour
2 tablespoons vanilla
2 medium tart apples
lemon or orange juice
apricot jelly (or apple jelly)
cinnamon

Directions:
Make the dough: mix the flour, powdered sugar and butter until a crumbly mixture forms.
Add 1 egg and mix until it is absorbed; set aside.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Make the filling: combine butter, sugar and eggs until batter resembles a smooth paste.
Gradually add the almond meal, cake flour and vanilla. Make a smooth paste.
Peel, core, quarter and thinly slice apples, soak in lemon or orange juice to prevent browning.
Roll out dough and lie in 9" tart pan, pierce bottom with a fork several times.
Spread in filling and layer the apples in an overlapping manner.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until filling is done.
Heat jelly gently.
Brush over apples.
Sprinkle with cinnamon.
