Beef Stew Recipe

  Stew

Ingredients:
Stewing beef
Carrots
Celery
Potatoes, diced
Two slices of bread
Cinnamon
Water
Salt/pepper

Directions:
Brown the stew meat. Boil vegetables until mostly done. Add beef and the juices. Add spices. You can also add in some beer, if you'd like. Shred in the two pieces of bread. They will thicken the water and juices into a stew broth and you won't have lumps to deal with. The cinnamon givees it a slightly sweeter taste than most people are used to, but I find it to be kind of interesting. It's really very easy and it freezes up nicely. I've added leftover vegetables as well (corn, beans, etc.) and it's fine no matter what.
I have no idea what the nutritional values are. The number of servings you get depends on the quantities you use. I make a lot because I'm cooking for several people.
I use this as a period recipe since I cook for my group in the Society for Creative Anachronism. It's a solid recipe and it is very filling. It's also incredibly fast and easy, which I need.
